Medical Review Policy
How clinical content is reviewed, by whom, and on what schedule.
- 01
Who reviews clinical content
Clinical content is authored or co-authored by Dr. Ariel Ortiz® Lagardere, MD, FACS, FASMBS, and reviewed by the OCC editorial team — composed of clinical staff at the Obesity Control Center® under Dr. Ortiz's direction.
- 02
Initial review
Every clinical page is reviewed prior to publication for factual accuracy, alignment with current society guidelines (ASMBS, IFSO), and consistency with Dr. Ortiz's clinical practice.
- 03
Periodic re-review
Clinical pages are re-reviewed at least every 24 months, and sooner when guidelines, evidence, or practice patterns change materially. The last-updated date in the page footer reflects the most recent review.
- 04
What is not medically reviewed
Personal essays, opinion pieces, and historical/biographical content are authored by Dr. Ortiz but are not subject to the same clinical-review process and are not intended as clinical guidance.
