Back in 2004, Dr. Ortiz served as an advisor to a small start-up called Obalon Therapeutics in Carlsbad California, which developed and put in clinical use the world's first swallowable gastric balloon for weightloss, leading the effort to produce an effective treatment for non-surgical weight loss.
